FORMAT

  • Matches shall be 3 minutes of active fight time exclusive of any time-outs. Hence, it is not binding but advisable to keep battery capacity, power usage and machine defenses such that it can sustain a 3 minute fight.
  • In case the wires of the bots get entangled the timer would be paused and the bots will start again from their home positions.
  • Matches would be played on knockout basis where the combat is a regular one on one combat between 2 bots.
CRITERIA FOR VICTORY

  • A robot is declared victorious if its opponent is immobilized.
  • A robot will be declared immobile if it cannot display linear motion of at least 10cm in a timed period of 15 seconds.
  • A bot with one side of its drive train disabled will not be counted out if it can demonstrate some degree of controlled movement.
  • A robot that is deemed unsafe by the judges after the match has begun will be disqualified and therefore declared the loser. The match will be immediately halted and the opponent will be awarded a win.
  • If a robot is thrown out of the arena the match will stop immediately, and the robot still inside the arena will automatically be declared as the winner
ARENA

  • Arena will be a plain square platform with only two exits (The remaining portion will be fenced on boundaries).
  • The bots are supposed to push their opponents out of the arena through these exits
  • The Arena will be disclosed at the day of event.
GENERAL RULES

  • All participants build and operate Robots at their own risk. RoboWars is inherently dangerous.
  • Compliance with all event rules is mandatory. It is expected that competitors stay within the rules and do not require constant policing.
  • RoboWars event will be operating safety & rule compliance checks prior to any robot competing or testing during the event. It is at the inspector’s sole discretion that your Robot is allowed to compete. As a builder you are obligated to disclose all operating principles and potential dangers to the inspector before the match.
  • Proper activation and deactivation of robots is critical. Robots should only be activated in the arena or testing areas with expressed consent of RoboWars event's safety members.
  • Failure to comply with any of the cardinal safety rules set out below by RoboWars event may result in expulsion from the event or worse, fatalities.
  • There are two weight Categories:
    a) Weight Class 1: 5kgs
    b) Weight Class 2: 20kgs
  • Robots must not exceed these dimensions. This does not include all over hangs and weapons when in the retracted position.
    For Weight Class 1: 0.4 x 0.4 x 0.3
    For Weight Class 2: 0.6 x 0.6 x 0.4
    (All dimensions are mentioned in metric system).
    Any external device is not included in the constraint.
  • All Robots must have controlled mobility in order to compete.
  • Voltage must not exceed 24V between any two terminals of the robot at any point of time. Note that batteries may have a higher voltage during charging and care must be taken not to exceed these limits. All efforts must be made to protect battery terminals from a direct short.
  • For Wireless robots there will be additional tolerance of 20% in weight and 15% in dimensions (For both weight classes).
    Batteries must be adequately protected within the body shell and securely fixed to minimise the chance of being punctured or coming loose during combat. In addition, packing such as high density foam is recommended to reduce the shock of impacts.
  • Bots shouldn't try to cut the wires of their opponents as it is against the motive of the event.
  • Weapons designed to cause invisible damage to the other robot Tesla coils, Van-de-Graff generators, stun guns, cattle prods, radio Frequency jamming equipment or similar devices are excluded.
  • Full body spinning robots with an eccentric mass, circular saws, carbon or steel cutting discs are also excluded.
  • Flammable liquids or gases, explosives or flammable solids such as DOT Class C devices, Gunpowder, Cartridge Primers or Military Explosives, etc are also excluded.
  • Weapons such as lifters, ramps, flippers and any other design which doesn't damage the arena and is safe for the audience is encouraged.
  • Organizer’s decision will be final and binding.
  • This event is open to all college students with valid ID cards.
DEMOLITION DERBY

  • This event is only For Weight Class 1 and will be conducted after the main event.
  • 5 Robots will be let inside the arena with positions decided by organisers. (The number of robots is subjected to change)
  • The robots have to push others out of the arena or immobilize them. The last robot which survives will go to final round.
  • Each match will last for 10 minutes.

Arduino 2.0

ABOUT

GENERAL RULES

  • The event is consists of two round , i.e. Preliminary and final Round.
  • There will be written preliminary test of objective type . It’s related to sensors and basic of arduino. And one coding session test on real arduino .Both the test will occur simultaneously.
  • Top five team will be selected based on the mark from above two test for final round.
  • A team can have atmost 4 member
  • A group of 2 person will be allowed to each test(2 people for Written and 2 people for Coding test).
  • After the test, the qualified team will be given all the required kits and the problem statement will be published.
  • The final round score is independent of the score in preliminary round.
  • You have to bring at least one laptop per team with arduino ide preinstalled to it , atleast one Android Smart Phone and an Arduino UNO.
  • The final round will have problem statement related to the use of followingsensor :- Motor Driver, IR Sensor, Bluetooth Module , Arduino,Ultrasonic Sensor

Amphibot

ABOUT

In this epoch of multitasking, what better than have a vehicle which can conquer any terrain and reach the final destination without breaking much sweat. We put this thought into manifestation to present the competition of Amphibots. Suit up and prepare your bots to vanquish the challenges posed by the multi terrain track of land, water, marsh and so on. The fastest to the finishing line shall emerge triumphant

GENERAL RULES

  • A team can have a maximum of 5 members.
  • The robot should not damage the arena.
  • Participants are not allowed to touch the vehicle once it has started. In case of the vehicle getting stuck in a particular obstacle, participant can correct its course (as instructed by the organizers)with some penalty.
  • The amphibot should not, in any way, take the support of the walls or the pool bottom.
  • The bot has to clear each checkpoint on the track before going to the next. If a team chooses to quit before completing the track, it will be disqualified.
  • Other real time racing rules will be given on-spot and nothing except track would be provided.
  • Organizer’s decision will be final and binding.
  • This event is open to all college students with valid ID cards.
RULES

  • Participants have to build an amphibious vehicle (amphibot) which can move on land and also swim through/onwater.
  • The participants will have to individually race their amphibot on a track filled with obstacles.
  • The bot which successfully completes the entire track in the least amount of time (including bonuses and penalties) will be the hero of the event.
ELIGIBILITY

Any student pursuing undergraduate / postgraduate courses in India is eligible. Students may take part as a team and eachteam member should satisfy the above criterion.

ROBOT SPECIFICATION

  • In case a team brings multiple bots to the event, they have to declare the competing botbefore the start of the event. Only one bot will be allowed to compete in the event.
  • The amphibot should not be more than 30cm*30cm*20cm (length*breadth*height) in its dimensions. That is, it should fit in a box of the same dimensions. Tolerance in dimension is up to1cm.
  • Vehicles may use ready-made car parts (tires, gears etc.,). However use of ready-made cars, if found, will lead to immediate disqualification. Vehicle chassis have to be built by the participants
  • The potential difference between any two points of the vehicle must not exceed 15 volts.
  • The robot, if controlled by wired transmission is required to have a minimum wire length of 2m and the wire should remain slack throughout the run.
  • Use of internal combustion engines is not allowed. Only electric motors have to be used for power.
  • There is no restriction on the weight of the amphibot.
ARENA SPECIFICATION

  • The travel is partly over land and partly over water.
  • The path may have variations in texture as well as geometry (i.e. there may be turns, banking, unevenness, slipperiness, sandy terrain, etc.,).
  • There may be inclined planes, bridges, tunnels, etc.,
  • There will be some surprise elements in the track which will be disclosed at the time ofevent.
  • There may be multiple tracks across the arena; some short and tough, some long but easy.
GAME PLAY

  • Test practice will be allowed before the event starts with limited time for each participant.
  • There will be two rounds. The teams will be ranked based on the time it takes to complete the track + bonuses and penalties
  • Top teams (the exact number will be declared at the event)from the first round will be qualified for the second round.
  • In case a bot encounters a technical snag during the run, another chance will be given with some penalty.
  • In the rare event of a tie, the tied teams will be asked to race again. The previous timings (even though they may be better) will be scrapped.

Line Follower

ABOUT

Robotics events are incomplete without a line follower competition. A simple black line on a white background and your robot must follow it.
Easy, right? Here’s the catch. The track is filled with bends and curves. The task is to build an autonomous robot which is capable of traversing a black line on a white background.

FORMAT

  • Participants are allowed to change their codes only once before the commencement of first round and the time given will be 10 minutes only.
  • Preliminary Round is having smooth lines, sharp turns and curves
  • Second round consists 90 degree turns, junctions, loops and inversion.
  • Interruptions are allowed but limited.
GENERAL RULES

  • Maximum four members are allowed in one team and a member can be a part of one team only. Students from different educational institute can form a team.
  • Max Source potential difference allowed is 20 V.
  • Change of batteries and sensors or modifications is allowed but the game has to be re started.
  • Organizer’s decision will be final and binding.
  • This event is open to all college students with valid ID cards.
THE ROBOT

Size ::

  • The size of the bot should not be exceeding 250mm * 250mm * 250mm, the maximum weight is 3kgs.

Control ::

  • Robots must be autonomous.
  • bots must be started manually.
  • The use of remote control of any kind is forbidden.

Construction ::

  • Robot should be autonomous with On-Board power source.
  • Robots must not use readymade mechanisms, Lego kits, etc. However readymade sensors and microcontroller kits can be used.
THE GAME

START :
One team member is elected as the robot handler. Only that team member is permitted to handle the robot during the game. All other team members must remain outside the game zone. At the instruction of the referee, the handler has to start the program on the robot.
RESTARTS :
Once the bot gets deviated from the track, it is to be restarted at that checkpoint.
A maximum of 3 chances are allowed to restart.

THE TRACK

The width of the line will be around 25mm. consisting of simple lines, curves, loops, turns, and inversions.

RC - Car

ABOUT

Get set with your RC cars for a heart thumping and adrenaline rushing race. Team up with your compatriots and make your own RC cars. Bring out the Lewis Hamilton in you, run on our terrain to compete for the title, and a chance to inscript your names into history.

FORMAT

  • The event will take place as a race, and the cars have to navigate through a certain track.
  • The track will consist of changing dimensions.
  • Most of the track will be on asphalt road but dont ignore the possibility of muddy or sandy region.
  • Teams will be divided into batches, based on the total number of participants and the teams in a batch will have to compete together.
GENERAL RULES

  • The cars need to be WIRELESS.
  • Usage of nitrous is NOT allowed.
  • The machine should fit in a box of dimensions 30cmx30cmx25cm (lxbxh) at any moment of time during the race. The external device which is used to control the machine is not included in the size constraint.
  • Weight of the bot must not be more than 10kg .
  • The total voltage should not exceed 24V.
  • During the race, any kind of damage done to another car will result in disqualification.
  • Use of readymade bots is strictly prohibited
  • Organizer’s decision will be final and binding.
  • This event is open to all college students with valid ID cards.
